The Co-op is a natural-foods grocery store and bakery. The store carries all the items you typically buy from week to week, and also countless specialty items you might not find in an ordinary supermarket. Owned and operated by its members, the Co-op has been a part of the North Country since 1973. The Co-op has a new brick oven bakery.
Nature’s Storehouse
Nature’s Storehouse, located in Canton, New York is healthy alternative to the grocery stores and their bulletin board (and staff) offer an an excellent opportunity to find out about local homesteading-oriented opportunities. Nature’s sells organically grown and produced food as well as other healthy odds and ends! Freshly made wraps, salads and soups available as well.
Gardenshare
GardenShare is a locally led, nonprofit organization seeking to end hunger and strengthen food security in northern New York State. GardenShare works to build a North Country where all of us have enough to eat and enough to share—where our food choices are healthy for us, for our communities, and for the environment.
North Country Children’s Museum
At the North Country Children’s Museum, we believe that learning is a hands-on, minds-on, interactive experience. With exhibits that celebrate the cultural and geographic resources of the North Country, you’ll find play areas and tinker spaces for all ages to get kids thinking, making, and doing.
Cornell Cooperative Extension
To provide unbiased, educational outreach to the North Country through research, education and demonstration in Food and Agricultural Systems, Life Skills, Community Enhancement, Rural Stewardship, and Youth Development.
